GP wave off 2017
Cranbourne once again put on a great show as riders from all over the country paused at the chequered flag waiting for the blessing to ride the black stuff down to Phillip Island.
There was a little penguin weather in the air but occasional drizzle and the cool climate did not dampen the cheers, flags, waving and the thrill of the ride.
Bikers, enthusiasts, families and fans come in their thousands to peruse the wheels and leather on show. Plenty of food and side shows to keep even the not so cycler induced happy and in the party mood.
Motors ready, riders poised flag drops…and the convoy departs in a slow and orderly safe fashion.
The roads are safely blocked and while for the non cycling punter it may be a little frustrating to get on with a bike less life. The event does not take too long, does not disrupt too much and is a great boost for the locals and business. It safely moves, what would be, a time staggered an unorganised stream, into a safe passage and fun event for all.
Tooradin like many other towns along the route also benefit. Many riders break the run with a coffee or rest stops along he way.
The run is a great way to build rider awareness and create a better rider/non rider relationship.
