Slythnah the soothsayer demands attention

Characters of all sorts turned up at Wilson Botanic Park Berwick last Saturday afternoon to join the growing group of cast and crew involved in the upcoming Casey’s   Halloween Scare Park event.

Safety was first on the menu and we all took a wander around the scare park route assessing risks and becoming familiar with our zone areas and zone members.

A full lighting assessment  was completed in the darkness of night week b4 last and the team are now busy finishing off the effects and safety lighting requirements. We also have some fabulous news with regards to our Apocalyptic zone youth community outreach venture. More on that later.

Character building

Safety now sorted, we turned our attention to the building of characters within the zones. Thomas Out, director of the upcoming BATS show Wizard of Odd lead the group discussion on how to become familiar with , knowing your characters traits and expanding your character. The group then split into their zones and discussions began to sort out who is who.

Very important job offer!!–SFXMakeup Co-ordinator

There is still plenty to do tho.

We are in great need for a volunteer SFXmakeup artist to take on the co-ordination of makeup for the event. Share this with anyone you think might be interested.

This is not a demanding time consuming position. Many are doing their own. We just need someone to make sure everyone is “covered”.

We have 3-4 willing, capable, young, enthusiastic makeup helpers, ready to assist.
We have a number of masks to help limit the amount of those needing makeup.

But we do need someone of mature age with experience who can attend the rehearsals(only two to go now) and the event, liaison with the actors and Scott to help decide how much of what and who needs what and where to get it from and lastly how long it will take to apply on the night.

Props, an ongoing production

Many, many props will be used at this event to enhance the characters and create atmosphere. Corpses, props, sets and those sorts of construction projects are tackled at the Belfry. Always looking for volunteers and happy to teach those willing to  help build.

Rehearsals  

Next rehearsal, in October, is a big one. Hopefully costumes and sets will be mostly sorted by then so we can really get into the zones and have fun with props and playing  out our characters. Come and join us. There are plenty of positions for actors, helpers and guides available.

As we departed our mascot bat sung a glorious rendition of  “it aint over till its over”. Unfortunately most photos were confiscated by its manager but I managed to sneak this one out.
