Last Saturday at 12 noon in the new Coles end of the Cranbourne park shopping centre, nerves and inhibitions were pushed aside for a very worthy cause.
I’m high on the hill
Looking over the bridge
To the M.C.G.
And way up on high
The clock on the silo
Says eleven degreesI remember I remember
~Leaps and bounds Paul Kelly
Councillor Amanda Stapledon, a great supporter for the food truck, was on hand to help launch a flashmob organised by the Cranbourne Uniting Church. Formed around a band of musicians from the Folk Uniting Night (FUN), a monthly evening of music and prose, the flashmob gathered in the food court area to help raise awareness and the need of funds for the Cranbourne Food Truck.
Now listen,
Oh we’re steppin’ out
I’m gonna turn around,
Gonna turn around once and we’ll do the Eagle Rock.~Eagle Rock Daddy Cool
The Food Truck provides a hot cooked meal and groceries to all those in need around the Cranbourne area. Sharon Start and a number of the musicians from the FUN group, with additional special guests, wove together a medley of iconic Australian Rock. Many of the mob participants are not used to this public showing but the nerves were put aside for a greater good.
I tell you folks
It’s harder than it looksIt’s a long way to the top if you want to rock ‘n’ roll~Along way to the top ACDC
Setting up
The not so flash side of things included the setting up of instruments, amplifiers, microphones and of course cables.
The performance, which lasted approximately fifteen minutes, was composed of a mixture of solo and ensemble parts. All ages, side by side and all young at heart.
Out where the river broke
The bloodwood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
Steam in forty five degreesHow can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?~Beds are Burning Midnight Oil
The younger troop lead the way in dance with some awesome choreographed steps.
Finishing with a stirring rendition of “I am Australian”
I’m the hot wind from the desert
I’m the black soil of the plain
I’m the mountains and the valleys
I’m the drought and flooding rains
I am the rock
I am the sky
The rivers when they run
The spirit of this great land
I am AustralianWe are one
But we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We’ll share a dream
And sing with one voice
I am, you are, we are Australian~I am Australian The Seekers
Thanks
Much thanks and appreciation goes out to the many involved. The small seeds that grew, those that encouraged and supported, those who joined our throng, the City of Casey, Cranbourne Shopping Centre, the shoppers, singers and musicians. Philshar Photography and Roy Snook video.
Out here nothin’ changes, not in a hurry anyway
You feel the endlessness with the comin’ of the light of day~Solid Rock Goanna
But perhaps with your support behind the Cranbourne Food Truck, we can make an immediate difference to the lives of some, today.
